Overview
An organization advocating for parents at work needed a new website to showcase services, including with video, and that would be easy to update. They returned first with a need for a new page that we created a module template for, and again for a new partnership site that would be made up of advanced landing pages. It would also need to be easy to update and to duplicate pages.
Strategy
WRK/360 had an existing custom WordPress site that needed an upgrade front and back. We decided that starting fresh would be the best method for this site, so we got to work putting together a fresh design using their branding guidelines and overall goal of providing good, easy to digest information about them and their mission.
We started with a custom WordPress design and theme that utilized the block editor for the main content. Since this site was developed before the site editor was available, we went with a more classic custom theme implementation and utilized Advanced Custom Fields for some aspects of the pages, including hero sections and calls to action.
We included the option for a video that could be easily updated and an easy way to add downloadable PDF resources to the site. We launched the site, and they were able to successfully manage and maintain their site.
Returning for Updates
Since launching, WRK/360 developed a new program that they wanted to give a full landing page treatment to. Fully designed with some new elements added, like a testimonial slider, called out highlights, and clearly outlined benefits.
We wanted to take a more modular approach to this page, so that if they wanted to build out new landing pages or implement the features from this new page to their existing pages, they could do it easily.
New Partnership Site
In addition to the new page on their website, they needed a new separate site with a more specific layout that would be easy to duplicate pages and switch out branding.
The places to update on each page needed to be clear and easy to do. It also needed to be easy to hide sections and add block-based content if needed.
We were able to implement an “add to calendar” feature and a semi-flexible approach to the pages that used the modular approach to their new page as a starting point.
Future Updates
Since launching the website, new page, and secondary site, the WordPress site editor has launched and matured. It would be exciting to revisit this site and give it a redevelopment to make it a fully flexible website. We would take that modular approach that uses Advanced Custom Fields and create block patterns and custom blocks.
Their current site still has a lot of life left in it, and when they’re ready, a redevelopment will be a great way to extend that life even further.
